“I’m Not Your Father”: Davido Shuts Down 12-Year-Old’s Emotional DNA Test Appeal

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has once again found himself in the middle of a paternity controversy. The singer recently took to social media to firmly reject the claims of a 12-year-old girl, Mitchelle Anuoluwapo, who publicly appealed to him for a DNA test to prove he is her biological father.

The Emotional Appeal

The drama resurfaced when Anuoluwapo, who refers to herself as Davido’s “oldest daughter,” made a heartfelt plea online. Approaching her teenage years, the young girl expressed a deep desire to establish her true identity, revealing the emotional toll the long-running dispute has taken on her.

In her post, Anuoluwapo recounted years of bullying and psychological distress. “I was bullied in school from a young age and often came home crying. Other students laughed at me when I said my father was Mr. David Adeleke,” she shared.

She explained that the constant ridicule had affected her mental health, requiring professional support. Despite the challenges, she noted that she has remained focused on her education and kept her social media inactive for years on her mother’s instruction.

“As I transition into a young woman, I am respectfully asking Mr. David Adeleke for a DNA test to establish my identity,” she wrote. “This is something I want and believe is the right thing to do.”

Davido’s Firm Rejection

Davido, however, was quick to shut down the appeal, insisting that the matter had already been resolved years ago. Reacting to the post and later addressing the issue on X (formerly Twitter), the “Unavailable” crooner made it clear that he is not the girl’s father.

According to Davido, he has already gone above and beyond to prove his stance. “I have taken five DNA tests, and I am not her father,” he stated emphatically. He further clarified that he has never had a personal relationship with the girl’s mother outside of the DNA testing process.

The singer expressed deep frustration over the persistent claims, describing them as false and unfounded. He declared that this would be the absolute last time he addresses the issue publicly.

While Davido noted that he does not blame the minor involved, he suggested that her mother should be held accountable for continuously pushing the narrative and causing unnecessary distress.

A Decade-Long Saga

This paternity dispute is not new to Davido’s fans. The girl’s mother has allegedly claimed for over a decade that the Afrobeats star is the biological father of her child. Despite Davido’s repeated denials and multiple DNA tests returning negative results, the controversy has occasionally flared up in the media.

As the story trends across Nigerian social media, fans are divided. While many sympathize with the young girl’s emotional struggle and search for identity, others are urging her mother to accept the results of the previous DNA tests and allow Davido to live in peace.

What are your thoughts on this ongoing saga? Should another DNA test be conducted to finally put the matter to rest, or is five tests enough proof? Drop your comments below!
