According to him, Governor Otti has already won the hearts and trust of Abians, making him the clear favourite for the next gubernatorial race. In his words, delivered from Ohafia, Onwusibe stressed that the Labour Party in Abia is banking on its solid achievements. This is a stark contrast, he pointed out, to the alleged alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, who he claims are relying on their connections to the ruling party at the federal level.

They think because they are the party in the centre they are going to rig election but I can tell you that would not happen in Abia,” he declared with conviction.
