President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made his much-anticipated return to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on Wednesday evening, March 26, 2026. His return marks the end of an eight-day period away from the nation’s capital, during which he embarked on a state visit to the United Kingdom and observed the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations in Lagos.
A Warm Welcome
Upon his arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, President Tinubu was warmly received by a delegation of government officials, including the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike. In a lighthearted moment, the President was heard jokingly referring to Wike as
“Landlord,” a gesture that highlighted the cordial relationship between the two leaders.
Highlights of the Trip
While details of his UK visit remain largely under wraps, it is understood that the trip was aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and attracting foreign investment into Nigeria. Following his engagements abroad, President Tinubu proceeded to Lagos, his home state, to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr with his family and political associates. His presence in Lagos during the festive period was met with enthusiasm by residents.
Looking Ahead
With his return to Abuja, President Tinubu is expected to resume his official duties, focusing on critical national issues. The coming weeks will likely see renewed efforts in addressing economic challenges, security concerns, and other pressing matters facing the nation. His brief absence has allowed for a period of reflection and strategic planning, setting the stage for intensified governance in the coming months.
