The Defence Headquarters has reported the rescue of at least 59 kidnapped victims during coordinated military operations across Nigeria between August 14 and August 20.
Rescues recorded across several regions
According to the operational update, troops working in the North-East, North-West and North-Central recovered victims in multiple missions. Operations also led to arrests, weapons recoveries and the surrender of some fighters and family members of terrorists.
In the North-West, troops rescued 28 abducted persons across Zamfara, Katsina and Sokoto. In the North-Central, 13 victims were released in Kogi, while additional rescues were reported in Kwara and other locations.
Weapons and illegal refining sites targeted
The report also recorded the recovery of firearms, ammunition, motorcycles and explosives-related materials. In the South-South, troops disrupted illegal refining sites and recovered products suspected to have been illegally refined.
